Energy Saving Tips
With the rising cost of energy, keeping your home or business warm or cool for the minimum amount of expenditure is our priority. Proper sizing and heat load/loss calculations ensure you are getting the most efficient system to meet your needs. The correct size and configuration of the duct, as well as insulation of the duct to up-to-date code standards, are all part of what we do to save you energy. Here are a few energy saving tips to help reduce those fuel bills:
- When considering your landscaping plans, use tree and shrubs to shade air conditioning units. Plant so as to not restrict air flow.
- Ceiling fans can contribute to cooler temperatures and lessen the need for air conditioning on those moderately warm days.
- Whole house fans are also worthy of consideration for special applications.
- Keep outside influences such as electronics, lamps, TVs, other appliances away from thermostats. Any of these items generate heat that affects the operation of your temperature control.
- Zoning of your home can control heating and cooling automatically only where you want it when you want it.
- Variable-speed systems increase the efficiency of the system, save energy, and run more quietly.
- Set your thermostats as low in the winter and as high in the summer to maintain your personal comfort level.
- Most importantly: Have your system serviced regularly, at minimum, once a year. Having filters changed and the units inspected and maintained by a qualified heating and air conditioning professional is key to efficient operation.
